Congress Volunteers 2025

General Info

General information
Volunteers are the heart and face of our congress. The congress cannot function without the dedicated support of volunteers who play an important role in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for participants from all over the world and assist the host in running a professional congress. That’s why we are looking for volunteers who are interested in sport science and have the time and enthusiasm to help us deliver this once-a-year event. If you are committed, reliable and respectful and would like to work in a great team, you are the right person for us. Please note that knowledge of the English language is required.
Once you are confirmed as volunteer, please create an ECSS account and report back your ECSS account ID as well as your t-shirt size. Volunteers can register for a complementary lunch on all congress days. Please indicate your meal preference when registering for lunch.
Why becoming a volunteer?

Be part of this unforgettable experience!
  • Free registration! – As a thank you for your support you will receive a free congress registration and you can attend scientific sessions when you are not on your volunteer shift.
  • Submit an e-poster abstract! – If accepted, it will be published in the ECSS ebook of abstracts, which can be recognised as an official scientific publication. Please note, that abstracts must be submitted until the abstract submission deadline on 15 February 2024.

  • Make new friends! – You will work in a great team of local and foreign people, creating new friendships all around the world. Volunteering is known not only to be related to happiness but also to increase happiness!
20-hour support
To receive an official volunteer certificate, a total of 20 hours of support during the ECSS congress is required. The ECSS appreciates your willingness to achieve this by honoring your shifts, turning up on time and staying until the work is done!
Some of the volunteers will have a total shift of 20 hours, others will not reach this number (15h-19h).
The head of volunteers will help everyone to get into the right position and put in the required hours.
Our training
Each volunteer must attend a mandatory training session on Monday, 1 July 2024, from 13:00 – 16:00 to prepare for the various tasks and ensure that they are well prepared and able to carry out their tasks safely (details on “task description”). After the training, each volunteer will receive two official volunteer shirts and will assist in packing the congress bags as their first task.
Please familiarise yourself with the various aspects of the congress center, such as the location, venue layout, general congress information and programme details. A floor plan and all other details can be found online on the ECSS Glasgow 2024 webpage and in the final programme, which you can download from your ECSS account a few weeks prior to the congress.
Be on time
Please arrive at the congress center at least 20 minutes before your task starts.
Consider that you need time for taking over from the previous volunteer as well as handing over your task to someone coming after you!
Stay flexible!
Please help your team colleagues if you have time. Have a look around if you see anybody looking for assistance and offer your help.
Create an ECSS account and report IDs – Head of Volunteers
Each volunteer needs to create an ECSS account including personal information like mobile phone number and a valid email address. Please collect all ECSS account-IDs and send them to office@ecss-congress.eu. We will register them and they will automatically appear on the "List of Volunteers" in your back office. After they are registered, they can register for their complementary lunch during the congress days.
